Undergraduate Study

Students attending the Faculty of English's summer school will undertake a series of lectures, seminars, and supervisions designed to introduce the Cambridge undergraduate course in English.

Lectures will be delivered by Faculty members, and seminars will be held by experts in each field, giving students the opportunity to discuss a series of literary texts in small and focused groups. We will also study a Shakespeare play; you may have the opportunity to explore the text through performance.

Applicants should be considering studying English at university and if selected, will need to complete some reading in advance of the week (a Shakespeare play and some short poems / stories).  Reading will be provided in plenty of time prior to the summer school. We anticipate that this will take no longer than 10 hours of your time, and you must be prepared to do this before you arrive in Cambridge.
