Undergraduate Study

The Sutton Trust Summer School in Modern and Medieval Languages offers a unique opportunity to improve your skills in a foreign language (or two) and to find out if this is something you would like to do at university. Together with other students from around the country, who share your passion for languages, you will experience the variety of topics on offer at university. You will be translating texts by authors such as Camus and Kafka, and you will learn how to analyse texts and discuss their linguistic properties. There may be opportunities to interpret films, e.g. by Almodovar, and works of art. You will have the chance to try out new languages such as Russian, Italian or Portuguese. There will be lectures, seminars, and small classes to ensure that everybody can participate. You will have access to the Modern Languages Library for private study, and you will be staying at one of the Cambridge colleges so you can get a real taste of what university life is like.
