Undergraduate Study

The BA in Education is a rich, varied and fascinating study of humanity. It intersects with a wide range of subjects such as drama, history, philosophy, sociology, economics, politics, English, and more. Students on our course consider a multitude of pertinent questions around social justice, inequality, technology, the role of institutions, and how all of these impact the human experience of learning.

The Faculty of Education is hosting a series of taster lectures for potential students to get a flavour of the breadth and variety of the degree.

How the Animation We Love Shapes How We Love Animation

This lecture will be delivered by Joe Sutliff Sanders. His research tends to begin with questions about form and genre—How can a work of nonfiction signal a lack of authority? What does the shape of a picture book invite? How does the formula of best-selling novels about orphan girls shift over time?—and extend then to explorations of ideology. His approach to children’s literature is therefore primarily textual, historical, and theoretical.
