This programme is open to women who are interested in studying Maths and related courses at a top university. During the programme, you’ll attend lectures and classes taught by Cambridge academics and meet current students and admissions staff. It's a great opportunity to gain an insight into what it’s like to study at Maths at the University of Cambridge. Attendees will also have the chance to explore Christ's and Trinity Colleges, and take part in social activities and other maths-related activities alongside the academic lectures and classes.
To be eligible, in March 2025 you must:
- be a woman studying at a UK state school i.e. a school that does not charge fees (even if you are on a bursary or scholarship)
- be in Year 12 England/Wales, Year 13 Northern Ireland, S5 Scotland
- be aged 16 or over on the first day of the programme (27 March 2025)
- able to attend the full programme from c.2pm on 27 March until 1pm on 29 March 2025
- study one of the following qualifications
- A-Levels: studying Maths AND Further Maths A-Level - *full A-Levels! Not AS-Level only*
- It's fine if your school does Maths in the first year and Further Maths in the second year of sixth form, or if you do both alongside each other!
- International Baccalaureate: Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level
- Scottish Highers: Maths at Higher with the intention to study Maths Advanced Higher in S6 and one of Mechanics, Physics or Statistics.
- A-Levels: studying Maths AND Further Maths A-Level - *full A-Levels! Not AS-Level only*
Please get in touch if you have any queries about your qualifications and please note that Core Maths is not a suitable qualification for this event. Students self-studying Further Maths A-Level will be considered (i.e. where school/college does not offer it). If your school or college does not offer Further Maths and you are an A-Level student in England, please see the Advanced Maths Support Programme, which may be able to provide tuition on behalf of your school/college.
The deadline for all applications will be 9am on 28 January 2025, with teacher references to be received by 9am on 3 February 2025.
