The Colleges of the University offer a series of informal information seminars for teachers – usually hosted by schools and colleges across the country – as part of the Area Links Scheme. These events are designed to be useful both for those who are new to supporting Cambridge applicants and those who are more familiar with the applications process.
The seminars are run by experienced Admissions Tutors and Schools Liaison Officers, who provide an overview of the University and its courses and offer teachers and advisers specific advice on how best to support students making an application. Some events are delivered jointly with representatives from the University of Oxford.
Key points of discussion include:
- how best to guide KS4 students in selecting subjects to study at sixth form
- what Cambridge is looking for in UCAS references and personal statements
- how to help students prepare for an academic interview
- the four Welsh events will include some content which is focussed specifically on Wales
These events typically take place throughout the summer and autumn, dates for 2016 are currently being confirmed and will be announced shortly.
