Undergraduate Study

The Homerton Admissions Team are pleased to be hosting a number of Subject Focus Sessions from May- July 2024. These sessions are free to attend and open to all prospective Cambridge students. There is no application process and a simple booking form is all that is needed to attend.

Each Subject Focus session will involve an introduction to Cambridge University and Homerton College from a member of our Admissions Team, followed by a taster session to give you an insight into the subject. To conclude, there will be a Q&A with current Homerton students studying the subject.

This Subject Focus Session will be run with Dr Roberto Sileo, Director of Studies for Linguistics at Homerton. Roberto's taster session will be on 'Inferred Meanings in Linguistic Interaction' and will explore aspects of meanings that go beyond the words and/or sentences that speakers (and/or writers) produce. In other words, the session will look at instances of language in use in which we mean what we don't say (and we say what we don't mean).
