Undergraduate Study
I have met the most amazing people and made the best memories. There’s always so much on whether you’re into art, music, theatre, sport, or are of a particular religion; there is genuinely something for everyone here.

Located on the banks of the River Cam, Magdalene is a friendly, diverse, and inclusive academic community, with a strong heritage in both the arts and the sciences. We welcome applications from bright, engaged students with a deep interest in their chosen subject, and strive to provide a supportive, vibrant, and scholarly atmosphere that supports students’ growth and development throughout their time at Cambridge.
We guarantee College accommodation for all undergraduates throughout their studies. All our accommodation is within 5-minutes’ walk of the main College site. The College sites bring together historic courts and modern architecture. The Magdalene Village offers a rare mix of historic and contemporary accommodation, while Cripps Court provides attractive modern rooms with en-suite facilities. Our wide range of accommodation options caters to a variety of needs and budgets. Many have been recently refurbished with easy access to kitchens and laundry facilities.
The Stirling Prize-winning New Library provides resources across all subjects that we teach, with support from knowledgeable staff. Open at all hours throughout the week, it is an attractive, purpose-built space where Magdalene students meet, work, relax and find inspiration. It holds more than 28,000 books and is a central part of academic life at the College. Magdalene offers a wide range of other facilities, including:
Magdalene stands beside the River Cam with the longest waterfront of any Cambridge College and is only a few minutes’ walk from the city centre. The setting is calm and scenic, yet close to everything students need.
Around 105 new undergraduates join Magdalene each year, creating a close-knit and welcoming community. Students are supported by Directors of Studies, Tutors, a strong wellbeing team and friendly professional staff. Current students help new arrivals settle in, make friends and feel part of College life from the very first week.
Magdalene has a strong record of academic achievement, and students are supported in developing their interests across many areas of extra-curricular activity as well. The College has a lively mix of sports teams, an active choir and a range of arts societies.
