If you cannot meet our usual entry requirements

You may want to consider the Cambridge Foundation Year, if you are:

  • from a forced migration background

and

  • are unable to meet Cambridge's usual academic entry requirements

The Cambridge Foundation Year is a free pathway to degree study in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Visit the course page to check our specific eligibility guidelines for Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

Financial support

You may need financial support for your university studies.

Your fee status determines the level of fees you are charged and the financial support available to you. If you are unsure about your fee status, you can get advice from the UK Council for International Student Affairs.

You should also check the Displaced Student Opportunities UK website. This offers suggestions for students who cannot access Student Finance because of their fee status.

You may be interested in applying for the Rowan Williams Cambridge Studentship (Cambridge Trust website). This is a full-cost scholarship for students facing severe barriers in accessing higher education.

Support for refugees in Cambridge

The University is a friendly, international community. The city of Cambridge has also been awarded 'City of Sanctuary' status.

The University's Refugee Hub supports sanctuary seekers coming to Cambridge. This includes events and the Refugee Network.
