Undergraduate Study

Please note, we're no longer taking bookings for University and Colleges tickets for Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July. Colleges Only tickets are still available for both Open Days.

Cambridge Open Days 2018

The University of Cambridge and its Colleges will be opening their doors for the Cambridge Open Days on Thursday 5 July and Friday 6 July 2018.

These events are for prospective applicants in Year 12 (or the equivalent) and prospective mature applicants (aged 21 or over) only, together with up to two parents or supporters.

On the day you’ll be able to find out what the University and Colleges have to offer through presentations about our courses, the application process, student life, and finance. You’ll also have the opportunity to talk to current undergraduates and staff from the Colleges and academic departments.

All undergraduate Colleges and courses will be represented as part of the Cambridge Open Days. All undergraduate Colleges and many departments will be open to drop-in visitors at certain times during these days. However, some Colleges, the Department of Land Economy and the Department of Veterinary Medicine will also be running their own events, for which you’ll need to book separately. Please see College open days and Department open days for further information.

Please note that we’re unable to accommodate younger students or additional guests who exceed the two ‘Parent/Supporter’ tickets that are available to each prospective applicant. However, you can find information about events and resources for younger students on our events webpage.

Ticket types

University and Colleges ticket

A University and Colleges ticket allows you to access:

  • general presentations, such as Applying to Cambridge and Student Life
  • course presentations
  • the undergraduate Colleges

We advise arriving in plenty of time before the start of presentations. These sessions are very popular and room capacity restrictions mean that, on occasion, there may not be space for everyone. Visitors arriving late to a session may not be admitted (even if there are seats available) to avoid disrupting the talk underway.

Please note that whilst we endeavour to accommodate all visitors, for the majority of general and course presentations priority will be given to prospective students. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee access for parents and supporters.

If you book a University and Colleges ticket, you don’t need to book a Colleges Only ticket as well for the same day.

To enable as many prospective students as possible to attend, we can only allow you to book a full access University and Colleges ticket for one of the Open Days. If you're looking to make a two-day visit to Cambridge, please book a Colleges only ticket (details below) for the other day. You’ll need to make two separate bookings via Eventbrite (one for each ticket type) to do this.

Colleges only ticket

This ticket type is recommended for those who don't want to attend the presentations, or for those who are attending the full Open Day on one day and would like the opportunity to visit Colleges on the other day.

As a student at Cambridge, you'll be based in one of the University's undergraduate Colleges. Much more than a hall of residence, your College is also where you eat and do a lot of your socialising, receive academic and pastoral support, and often (though not always) receive small-group teaching (supervisions).

A Colleges Only ticket will give you access to the 29 undergraduate Colleges, but doesn’t grant you entry to the general and course presentations. It’s up to you how many Colleges you visit, and with this ticket you’ll have the flexibility to drop into most of them throughout the day.

Some Colleges will also be running their own events on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July, for which separate booking with the relevant College will be required. A Colleges Only ticket won’t grant you entry to these events. Please see College open days for further information.

If you have any questions about the Cambridge Open Days please see our frequently asked questions.
