The Economic History Society, in conjunction with Corpus Christi, will be hosting an online super-curricular Economic History Masterclass on Saturday 23 September. The sessions are aimed at Year 12 and Year 13 (or equivalents) and will be chance for students to explore what Economic History is all about, with two academic lectures, an admissions talk, and a chance to hear from undergrads who have specialised into it. Students who are also thinking of studying Economics would also find it interesting!

Programme:

10:15-10:30: Welcome and introduction to Economic History with Dr Charles Read

10:30-11:15: Talk 1 - Leigh Shaw-Taylor, "The Industrial Revolution" 

11:15-12:00: Studying economic history at university roundtable (representatives from Cambridge, LSE, Glasgow and the Economic History Society) 

12:00-13:00: Break for lunch 

13:00-14:00: Corpus admissions talk and undergraduate Q&A 

14:00-14:45: Talk 2 – Charles Read, "The Irish Famine and the British Financial Crises of 1847 and 2022"
