Libraries and study spaces
We have more than 100 libraries at Cambridge.
The University Library holds more than 9 million items. These span ancient manuscripts to electronic resources.
Faculty and department libraries:
- have specialised subject collections
- signpost you to subject-specific electronic resources including journals, ebooks and databases
College libraries are a great place to study. They usually have:
- standard course texts
- course related materials
- some specialist collections
To help you settle in, many of our libraries offer practical sessions and one-to-one help. This includes:
- introductory tours
- sessions on the resources available for certain subjects
- information skills classes
Museums, art galleries, and collections
Cambridge has 9 specialist museums and collections that you can visit.
They're full of items that you can usually only see here in Cambridge. They also have regular temporary exhibitions, so there's always something new to see.
Highlights from our museums and collections include:
- Charles Darwin’s microscope
- a 21 metre fin whale skeleton
- Rembrandt, Titian and Monet artworks
- modern and contemporary art at Kettle’s Yard
