The University of Cambridge has established an open day and event travel fund to enable children in (or previously in) care to travel to events organised by the Cambridge Admissions Office. These include events sponsored by the University's Widening Participation programmes. If your event is sponsored by an organiser other than the Cambridge Admissions Office, such as a College or academic department, please contact the event organiser about funding as we are unable to fulfil these requests.
To be eligible, you must be in Year 11 or above, and have spent at least three months in the care of a UK Local Authority since starting Year 10.
After you've submitted your application to the travel fund, we'll explore what financial support is available from your Local Authority. If they're unable to provide assistance, we will help with your travel arrangements. This is usually in the form of rail tickets or financial support in securing travel by other means of public transport (within the UK). You may receive assistance from this travel fund a maximum of two times per calendar year.
Please note that this travel fund is for care-experienced students only. If you have other extenuating circumstances, please contact the event organiser directly.
Please apply as early as possible to allow for your application to be assessed by the Cambridge Admissions Office. Applications received less than a month prior to the event may not be assessed in time for you to receive funding.

Travelling to interview
Care leavers who are invited to attend an interview as part of the application process may be eligible for support with their travel expenses. Please get in touch with the College that has invited you as soon as possible for further information and to apply for support.
