Getting around Cambridge
Cambridge will be very busy during the Open Days. We’ve put together travel information to help you get to Cambridge and around the city.
Food and drink
There are a range of cafés and restaurants around the city, as well as the University.
University Cafés
New Museums Site (city centre)
Whale Café, Museum of Zoology, 9:00am to 3:00pm
Sidgwick Site
- ARC Café, Alison Richard Building, 8:30am to 4:30pm
- The Buttery, Austin Robinson Building, 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Food trucks, near Lady Mitchell Hall, 11:00am to 3:00pm
West Cambridge Site
- West Hub, JJ Thomson Avenue:
- Canteen, 8:00am to 2:45pm
- Coffee bar, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Accessibility information
Disabled parking
Disabled parking is available in the city’s car parks and on some streets. Check in advance with the Cambridge Tourist Information Centre or visit Cambridge City Council website.
If you would like to park on one of the University's sites, arrangements differ by site.
- West Cambridge: We have a limited number of disabled parking spaces available both days at our West Cambridge site. These cannot be pre-booked, so just turn up on the day. View a map of these spaces.
- Other sites: If you need disabled parking at one of other sites contact Facilities.Management@admin.cam.ac.uk.
- Colleges: Some Colleges may be able to offer disabled parking. Contact individual Colleges for more information.

Quiet rooms
You are welcome to use our quiet room located in the Student Services Centre, New Museums Site [Google Maps].
Ask for access at reception or the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre information stand.
Food allergies
Some Colleges and departments may be providing complimentary food and drink during the Open Day. Check with staff in the relevant locations if you have allergies.
There’s a range of cafés and restaurants around the city and University-owned cafés who will be able to provide allergy information.

Prayer rooms
If you need a quiet space for reflection and prayer, there are spaces available for Open Days attendees to use.
- 9:00am to 5:00pm at Student Services Centre, New Museums Site [Google Maps]. Speak to staff at Reception for directions.
- Prayer rooms throughout Cambridge.
- Most Colleges have a chapel that you may be able to use during the Open Days. Speak to College or chapel staff for information.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Log in to ‘UniOfCam-Guest’ via your chosen social media platform to connect to Wi-Fi automatically from most University buildings.
Health and safety
Your safety is our priority. Large bags, and suitcases are not permitted at the Open Days. Luggage storage is available at the train station and elsewhere in the city.
Please follow guidance from staff, and take care when moving around the city. First aiders are available at the Student Services Centre and at the Sidgwick Site. If you require assistance, or have any concerns, please speak to a member of staff or a student ambassador.
