Frequently asked questions about the University of Cambridge Subject Masterclasses.
The Masterclasses provide students with an opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what is covered within the A Level syllabus, and offer the chance to experience typical undergraduate teaching at Cambridge.
Yes. Booking is essential.
Unfortunately parents and siblings are not able to participate in Masterclasses. Most parents and siblings take the opportunity to visit Cambridge and our famous Colleges and University Buildings.
Unfortunately we do not accept group bookings. However students are welcome to book a place individually.
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate younger year groups. The Subject Masterclass events are exclusively for year 12 (or equivalent) students thinking of applying to Cambridge in 2018 or deferred entry for 2019.
The University organises a number of other events throughout the year including some aimed specifically at students in Years 9 and 10. Further details can be found under Events and Outreach.
The Masterclass programme does not include any tours of Cambridge colleges. Colleges may be open for you to visit on the day but this would need to be arranged directly with the college.
Further information detailing how to find the venue will be emailed to you approximately two weeks before the event. If you do not receive the joining instructions two days prior to the event please email caoevents@admin.cam.ac.uk.
No. The Subject Masterclasses are for undergraduate applicants only. If you are interested in postgraduate study at Cambridge please contact the Graduate Admissions Office for more information about courses available.

If you have indicated that you have a disability or other additional need when making your booking we will contact you to confirm whether you require any special arrangements.
Yes, a ticket will be sent to you by email. It is also possible to download your ticket via the Eventbrite smartphone app. Please ensure that you print this out and bring it with you on the day. You will not be admitted without it due to capacity and health and safety restrictions.

All details about the event, including venues, timings and transport will be sent by email approximately two weeks before each Masterclass. No. Unfortunately we do not operate waiting lists for Subject Masterclasses.
The subjects offering Masterclasses are continually being updated; we recommend you check back regularly. You can also register interest for upcoming Masterclasses to receive email notifications if your subject becomes available.
The University of Cambridge does not provide any transport for students attending Masterclasses. However detailed travel information will be available approximately two weeks before the event to help you arrange your own transport to the venue.
There is no dress code for the Masterclasses. Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
For Masterclass events the University will send important information and reminders to the email address that you have provided during the Eventbrite booking process. It is essential that your email account is configured correctly so that emails sent from the University or Eventbrite are not rejected or filtered into your 'junk'/'spam' folder by your email provider or client.
Your booking on the Masterclass may be disadvantaged if you do not take the steps described below.
