Undergraduate Study

Our next series of Subject Masterclasses will be running virtually in the Michaelmas (Autumn) Term. Both UK and International students will be welcome to attend. If you would like to be notified when the Masterclasses are available to book, please sign up to our student newsletter

What are they?

Subject Masterclasses are subject-specific events that offer academically able students in Year 12 (or equivalent) the chance to experience typical undergraduate teaching at the University of Cambridge, and to get a flavour of what it's like to be a student here.

The Masterclasses cover a range of subjects and provide students with an opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what's covered within the school curriculum.

Each virtual Masterclass includes:

  • two live taster sessions delivered by leading academic staff from the University
  • the opportunity to ask questions
  • an introduction to the Cambridge admissions process
  • the chance to hear about life as a Cambridge student from current undergraduates

When are they?

Subject Masterclasses take place throughout the academic year, with our next events planned for Michaelmas (Autumn) Term. We'll publish details here closer to the events and you can sign up to our student newsletter for regular updates on the Masterclasses and other events.

How do I book?

The next series of virtual Subject Masterclasses will be available to book in early November 2021. We'll notify those who have signed up to our student newsletter once bookings open.

The events are open to individuals at a cost of £12.50 (to cover event costs). Booking is essential and must be made in advance of the live Masterclass. You can book to attend as many virtual Subject Masterclasses as you like.

Funded places are available for anyone eligible for Free School Meals and for those in care. More details will be available when we release our next series of Masterclasses.

Please note: Bookings are non-transferable. Whilst staff and current students are available throughout the event, we're not responsible for participants beyond our legal responsibilities as event organisers.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation by attendees: If you no longer wish to attend the session, you can cancel your booking up to 10 calendar days before the event date and be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price. Please note that the 10 calendar days’ notice is not inclusive of the event date. Refunds will take approximately two weeks to process. To cancel your place please email caoevents@admin.cam.ac.uk with the following details:

  • Event name and date
  • Order number (not applicable to funded places)
  • The name on the booking
  • The email address on the booking

Cancellation by Cambridge Admissions Office: While we make every effort to avoid any changes to our schedule of events, in the unlikely event that we have to cancel a Masterclass, all booking costs will be returned in full.
