HE+ Project Competition 2021

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 National HE+ Project Competition, which ran for the first time in 2020/21. The theme for this year was ‘Uncertainty’ and HE+ students were invited to complete research projects around this theme. Entrants had to develop their own research question, synthesise information from academic sources and provide full citations on an academic poster and abstract which was submitted for marking by our PhD community.

In the end, we received 227 poster submissions from all across the UK, from 81 different schools across all 21 of our HE+ consortia.

On Saturday 6 November, we invited the 25 shortlisted finalists plus a supporter each to a celebratory event at the University of Cambridge. At the event, finalists were invited to showcase their poster and present their research in an academic conference.

A special congratulations to our top three projects:

3rd Place – Amy W, Kings of Wessex Academy

Uncertainty in the access to mental health services for people of the deaf community

2nd place – Manav S, Rushcliffe School

Uncertainty in heartbeat: how can the features of chaotic systems be used to optimise the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac fibrillation?

1st Place – Aisha A, Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology
